Chocolate Hills Foundation Festival

Little bit of history! Carmen, Bohol was founded in March 1, 1869 by Governor General Jose de la Gandara. Carmen was the name chosen to honor the Lady of Carmel of Spain. (Philippines was a Spanish colony for 300 years (1521 to 1898).

Every year in March, the town of Carmen commemorates their foundation day with fun-filled activities starting with vibrant parade starting at Chocolate Hills followed by a day of festivities which involves singing, dancing and most of all enjoying all the local delicacies and specialties served. Our dear students at  Valeriano A. Ganas High School were at the front and center of this vibrant celebration. Hearts to Help Foundation funded their ornate costume, stunning yellow bright dress with wings (!) inspired by the provincial bird, the Antolihao or the black-naped oriole.
